Kodii's Civ4 Chronicles

Impossible Odds

On September 2, 2006 (Sirian's Birthday!), some of us on the RB forums decided to set up a multiplayer game. At first, it was just ruff_hi and myself. Later on, were joined by Qwack and Gogf. We waited a while for two more players to start a 3v3 game. Unfortunately, ruff_hi disappeared for quite a long time. During a half an hour wait for ruff_hi, Gogf called up his MP buddies and managed to get enough players to play a 4v4 game. Thus, we began the games of impossible odds. Why did I name this report "Impossible Odds"? I guess you'll find out soon enough.

Game One:
Ancient 4v4 Team Geam
Team Battleground
Two City Elimination, No Barbs, 120 Turns
Quick, Fast Turns

The following teams were made:

Gofg (Mansa Musa)
Knupp (Huayna Capac)
Kodii (Hatshepsut)
Speaker (Ghandi)

vs.

ruff_hi (Kublai Khan)
Dominae (Napoleon)
Qwack (Louis XIV)
Artemius (Tokugawa)

As you can see, none of our starting positions were spectacular, but they were good. My starting position had a total of nine lake tiles Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting. Four of those tiles were a nice barrier against the enemy. Before long, we were pumping out warriors and workers, and...

Okay yea, Kyoto was defended by a single warrior. It was inevitable that we'd take the city with a quechua, two warriors and one more warrior on the way. We didn't expect Knupp's quechua to take out Kyoto at 4% odds right away Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting. We decided to start up a new game.

Now, for some reason, we were having a lot of connection problems. Neither Qwack nor I could connect to the game. After about half an hour, Qwack and I finally managed to get into the room, at the cost of Dominae leaving. Before Dominae had the chance to come back in, Makdadi showed up instead. Apparently, he saw our posts on the forums, and decided to come in. Dominae told us we could go ahead with our game, and so it commenced.

Game Two:
Ancient 4v4 Team Geam
Team Battleground
Two City Elimination, No Barbs, 120 Turns
Quick, Fast Turns

The teams were very similar, but there were a few changes.

Speaker had a really nice start position. In fact, we all had pretty decent starting positions. We all had rivers. I had horses right outside Thebes. Lethal! :)

Speaker built Stonehenge.

Unfortunately, Gogf had a super warrior who somehow managed to take Bombay at 8% odds.

Then, the retire bug kicked in. After two short games with highly impossible odds, we decided to call it a night. It was a great experience for me, but I'm not quite sure about those "veterans" Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting. I hope we can play some more games together in the future. It was fun. Thanks to Gogf, ruff_hi, Qwack, Artemius, Knupp, Dominae, Speaker and Makdadi!
